We are awesome folks with a passion behind what we do. We started making soap several years ago due to skin issues and we were advised by our doctor to switch to a more natural approach. At the time, we could barely afford the price of all-natural soap, but we tried it. Two weeks later, we noticed a significant difference. No rashes, no itching, no flaky skin. But because we couldn't afford to buy it all the time, we decided to learn how to make it.
Present Day
Fast forward to 2023 and we perfected our own recipe after several failed attempts. Receiving feedback from friends and family, eventually our soap became popular locally and we decided maybe it was time to offer it to everyone. So we did! During that time, we developed even more products like our body butters and lotions. Eventually we decided to make bath bombs, beard washes, body washes, and shampoo bars. To this day, we are still developing recipes and rolling out our own line of premium products when we have perfected our formula.
What makes us stand out
A lot of you know the major brands like Dr. Squatch, Duke Cannon, Every Man Jack, and several more. Problem with these are they manufacture everything as cheap as possible. Dr. Squatch has sold out from being a private equity and partnered with a very large banking firm. Duke Cannon and Every Man Jack make their soaps using glycerin which is natural, but it also contains other unnatural ingredients that do not benefit the skin in the way cold process soap does. Cold process soap is a centuries old way of making soap from scratch using various oils, butters, and fats that go through a saponification process (a fancy word for turning oils and fats into soap). Because of this process, you are given the option to add endless all natural ingredients to your recipe of choice to create many different types of bars of soap to benefit all skin types. It's the way our ancestors made soap and how soap should continue being made. We use organic oils and butters. We are also very strict on where we source our ingredients from. We don't believe in these insane markups that everyone else has on their products either. We are just humble folks who grew up in the 70's and 80's that love tattoos, cats, good music, friends, BBQ's with genuine American values.
Why is handcrafted soap expensive
Genuine handcrafted soap using the cold process method as described above is expensive for a few reasons. A good soap maker uses ingredients that are not cheap. All the oils, butters, and fragrances cost a lot of money. Even though they are often purchased in bulk, they are still expensive. Also, the time it takes to craft the soap, cut the loaves, then cut the bars, and then cure the bars (curing often takes 6 weeks) all cost money and time. Time is money. Packaging is money. Shipping is money. No matter how you look at it, making soap this way costs money. The most expensive ingredient used in soap is the fragrances used. Cheap fragrances don't work well and sometimes not at all. Using premium fragrances and essential oils becomes even more expensive. To achieve certain fragrances that allow our products to stand out, we use essential oils in a lot of our products. Sourcing fragrances and the quantities used in soap making becomes expensive. It's an art. It's a craft. It takes time. All of which, cost money.
Natural product popularity
All natural body care products are increasing in popularity due to more and more people becoming aware of the harm that synthetic ingredients are causing to our bodies and the environment. Population is growing rapidly around the world and the demand for skin care products is increasing. More people are becoming aware of the dangers of the harmful synthetic ingredients commercial manufactures are using to make their products. They are cheap to make then they are sold four to five times the cost of making the product and buying the product to resell. Premium ingredients come with a price however, and to make premium all natural products, equals more time and money.
Supporting Small Business
Almost every business you purchase natural soap and body care products from are a small business in some way or fashion. Often family owned and independent. None of them do what they do without a sense of genuine purpose for the good of humanity and their communities. What many do not realize is the endless hours of work put into their business from designing their logo, brand, labels, packaging, recipes, along with the time it takes to market their products and brand. Endless emails, phone calls, paperwork, website design, and developing new products. All of these are usually the result of one to two individuals working countless hours while sometimes working a normal job on top of it just to make a few bucks. Yet, some of them continue and don't give up because they genuinely have a deep passion for what they do and enjoy sharing their passion with other folks. Supporting small businesses whether small or large changes lives because you are supporting some of the hardest working folks on the planet that are also trying to contribute some good back into society. When you purchase from a small business, they notice. When you purchase from a large business or corporation, they won't notice it for several weeks, if at all.
